February Instagram Review

Hello!

We apologise for the lack of posts the past couple of weeks, we have both been extremely busy and we are wondering how it is March?? Already?! In our busy lives we did manage to fit in a Blonde Edit trip to Amsterdam.  It was lovely to have a weekend away with friends, wander the pretty streets and boutiques of Amsterdam, and fit in tasting some of the local delicacies (mainly Heineken).  We will save our stories for a later post dedicated to the Amsterdam trip! In the mean time here is a round up of our favourite February Instagram posts.

As you can see our February consisted of lots of grey and black – and thankfully we are not talking about the Scottish weather.  In fact we were lucky to have lots of sunny and crisp winter days but our love for grey and black outfits can not be changed by the sunny weather.  Another running theme in February was Asian food.  We had a few Blonde Edit dinners and we both happened to cook asian noodle recipes!

One of my favourite mornings in February was a Saturday.  We both normally work Saturdays so having a Saturday off is always going to be memorable.  This particular morning I woke up and it was a miserable day outside (which I was secretly happy about).  What to do with a Saturday off? Well, I stayed in my dressing gown until midday and flicked through the beautiful pages of my Kinfolk magazine.  This may sound boring but the magazine had been sitting, unread, on the table for nearly a month and I was so busy I hadn’t even picked it up.  Sitting in my dressing gown, reading, with a cup of lemon water and fresh fruit was the perfect Saturday morning.  It is the simple things!

We are hoping March consists of more mornings like this!  And hopefully more Asian food… Can you recommend any recipes?  Don’t forget to follow us on Instagram @theblondeedit1 so you can keep up to date with our daily lives.

OOTD: Skirt and Turtle Neck

Hello lovelies!

I have a skirt on! A rare occasion, but I seem to have bought more skirts than normal recently so watch this space!  I got this skirt from Forever 21, it is really easy to wear for casual outfits.  The material is really nice too – a kind of a structured sweat material.  This colour isn’t online anymore, but you can get the same style in black and white stripes here.  I am tempted to get that one too, it is such a bargain!  My top is one of my favourites at the moment and I urge you all to buy one too!! It is so difficult to find a slightly cropped top that isn’t tight and unflattering (well, on me).  So when I found this turtle neck in M&S I was delighted.  (If you want to read more about my current love for M&S check out this post.  You will also find out about my beloved ankle boots I am wearing.).  The top is a lovely ribbed material.  The black is sold out but it is still available in a cream colour.  AND… I have just noticed it is in the sale – only £9 – get it quick here!!!!!!

Zara Fringe Top

Hello everyone,

It’s nearly the weekend and hope you have all some fabulous plans! I myself will be taking it easy after a busy week!

I just wanted to share with you all a recent outfit I wore just the other day. The thin sweater is from H&M and I am thinking I need to get one in every colour as they are so useful for wearing by themselves or with a shirt underneath – buy it here now. However it does appear they don’t have it in black any more, sad times. On this day I wore a lovely fringy cami top I got on sale from zara, unfortunately they no longer have it, it is great for layering whilst the weather is still pretty chilly (as you can see in the photo). Maybe once the weather gets better I can show the beauty of the whole top as it has some lovely embroidery on it!

Cameron House Hotel – Weekend in bonny Scotland

Hello readers!!

I mentioned on our Instagram a couple of weeks ago that I would soon be blogging about my stay at Cameron House, Loch Lomond.  The hotel was beautiful – a perfect weekend getaway in Scotland.  It is located right on Loch Lomond, with stunning views and cosy interiors.  The dark colours and mixture of tartans give the hotel a relaxing atmosphere.  Here is the room.  The bed was amazingly comfortable and we had a view of the loch.  It definitely was a struggle getting out of bed! (It is a good job I had nothing to get up for but the delicious breakfast).

Cameron House Hotel room

The Great Scots Bar, which you can see above, served a great selection of drinks and meals during the day.  The bar had large comfortable sofas which we sunk in to (with a drink in hand) and took in the gorgeous snowy view whilst we were cosy indoors.  We went here both nights and made a good attempt at making our way through the yummy cocktail list!!  I can definitely recommend the Cameron House Martini – a delicious martini with hints of apple and elderflower.  We ate there once for lunch.  I chose the “Fisherman’s Basket” – haddock goujons, scampi and fries.  Washed down with a glass of prosecco.  It was delicious.

In the evening we had dinner the Cameron Grill.  For starter I had the selection of Scottish salmons which you can see below.  It was beautifully presented and tasted even better than it looks!  It was served with homemade blinis which were so yummy!  For main course I had scallops served with champ potato, wilted spinach and tomato butter sauce.  Unfortunately for you, when it arrived my priorities were eating rather than taking a photo so I can’t share with you how delicious it looked!  But, you can take my word.

With the relaxing atmosphere of the hotel, the swimming pool, gym, and choice of restaurants I could have stayed in the hotel the whole time.  Thankfully the Scottish weather was on our side, so we did venture outside and had a small walk next to the Loch.  It was icy cold but the sun was shining beautifully.

Loch Lomond  And we got to watch the sea plane take off!

In the early evening we went to the Carrick Spa.  It is a couple of miles from the hotel but the hotel can help you with transport.  The Carrick Spa has an outdoor hot tub on the roof.  We were in there as the sun went down, and we were looking at the beautiful snowy hills.  It was up there in one of the best things I have ever experienced!

Overall, our stay Cameron House hotel was one to remember!  I couldn’t fault the hotel in any way.  It was relaxing, with good food and drink – what more could you want?  The Scottish snowy and sunny weather definitely helped make it that little bit more special!

As it is Valentines Day and we are on the topic of romance, I would highly recommend Cameron House for a romantic getaway!

Happy Valentines Day lovelies!

Shades of Grey OOTD

Hello all!

A quick outfit post: a comfortable Sunday outfit consisting of all shades of grey, well charcoal to be precise.  I said I would show you this jumper as part of an outfit a while back, when I bought it in November!  It is from COS and was bought on a shopping trip in Glasgow which I wrote about here.  Although I bought it back in November it didn’t go in to the Winter sale – so the good news is it is still available!  The bad news is, it must be sold out online but I recently saw it in a few COS stores in London.  So here it is on.  Its a lovely soft knitted jumper with a cute flare and zip up the back.  It looks great with jeans or a pencil skirt.  I also think it would look great with a white shirt underneath!

I spoke about these jeans in a recent post.  A great find from M&S and they are so comfy!  Anyway I won’t go on about them, if you do not know the full extent of my M&S jean appreciation then check out this post.  The boots are an old favourite from All Saints last year so they aren’t available anymore!  You can find a similar style here which I love!

Hope you have all had a lovely relaxing Sunday!

Accessories, Accessories and More Accessories

Hope you have all had a good weekend!

An eclectic selection of accessories is just what you need to make a lovely outfit – amazing. Here is just a selection of my ultimate accessories right now, my collection is forever growing and showing no sign of slowing down!

With the winter in full force here in the North East of Scotland, hats and snoods are a must! Cos had a great selection of both and I was lucky enough to get the orange snood and hat for my Christmas and the lemon hat was a sale treat to myself. The orange is such a great colour for brightening up any plain outfit, I do tend to wear a black hat with the snood and vice versa with the hat, as it looks all a bit much. They were in the Cos sale but sold out pretty quickly unfortunately. However the lemon ribbed hat is currently in the sale for just £13, it is a wool and cashmere mix so it doesn’t get itchy – get it here before its gone!

So now on to my favourite accessories… jewellery! I just can’t get enough of it, I have run out of fingers (and toes) to display all my rings on, my many hooks are forever being strained from the weight of all my necklaces. As I have so many pieces I thought I would share with you my everyday pieces I have been wearing over the past few months.

2015-01-19 15.50.04

On the first of this year I had a lovely email from MOXHAM with 50% off for all subscribers… “Yes” I thought as I knew exactly what I was going to buy as I have been lusting after the OTTO silver cuff for quite a while. I haven’t really had it off since I got it, even considering its chunky size, it is comfortable to wear for everyday and definitely a statement piece. The woman behind MOXHAM Madeleine Moxham, aims to “offer oversized statement pieces that create the focal point for a contemporary look” and she really does just that.

The necklace was was a sale item from a concept store here in Aberdeen called Peltoniemi. It’s  a really delicate chain that is great for wearing everyday, and has a little sparkle to it.

The perfume is from the same store – Olfactive Studio Lumière Blanche is “a mild and enveloping perfume, Lumière Blanche is a comforting cocoon, between milky mildness and cold spices” it really is  lovely.” All the scents from Olfactive Studio are really nice have a look at their website here.

Last but not least the ring is from the Danish silversmith Georg Jensen, it is solid sterling silver ring which I am loving wearing with all my other silver jewellery and new watch!

What are your favourite accessorises just now? We would love to hear from you!

Hope you have a good week!

All Saints Mac and Winter Knit

Hello readers!

Here is an outfit Fi wore for a coffee catch up with a friend.  It was a wintery day with a scattering of snow but the sunshine was shining beautifully, as you can see.  I am wearing one of my most favourite items in my wardrobe at the moment – my All Saints mac.  Quite a lot of macs were in the shops over autumn/winter and, from what I can see, as the spring season approaches there will only be more.  So my advice is invest in one now!!  This All Saints one is on sale at half price – get it here before its gone!!

This mac is great for throwing on over any outfit to instantly give it a classic and sophisticated look.  It is nice and light so it is a great coat for all year round.  In the winter I just make sure I am wearing a cosy jumper underneath.  Which brings me to the rest of my outfit, which I only realised now (whilst writing this post) is all from M&S.  I have found M&S has some great pieces at the moment.  You do need to be willing to have a rake around (especially at sale time) and try things on but I promise you will find something you love.  They often have deals on as well.  I got these boots when there was a 20% of deal.  Which made them extremely reasonably price for leather boots and they are very comfy.  I can honestly say I have hardly had them off since I bought them back in September!

M&S fishermans knit

The jumper was also a sale purchase (half price!!!) and is the cosiest jumper I own – sometimes too cosy!  I bought the jeans full price and they were definitely worth it.  I had been looking for a pair of ripped jeans for a while but was struggling to find a pair that I really liked until I found these.  Have you ever bought jeans from M&S?  All I am going to say is go and try them on now!!  I won’t bore you too much but I have managed to convert a couple of friends to be M&S jeans buyers.  They are always a great fit and never lose their shape.

Anyway, that is my (not so) secret love for M&S out in the open.

Thank you for reading The Blonde Edit!

Daniel Wellington and Triwa Watch

  Hello all!

The Blonde Edit have been spoilt this Christmas and we both received lovely new watches which we want to show you.  Ollie got a Daniel Wellington watch and Fi got a Triwa watch.  We love both these brands for their quality and originality, and the simple but stylish designs.  The brands are a little bit different from other watch brands which you normally find on the high street.  Our particular watches are great for any occasion or outfit.

Triwa watch, daniel wellington watch Daniel Wellington watch

Daniel Wellington is a British brand which makes high quality watches of a classic style.  Check out the website here – it has lovely imagery and stories.  Ollie’s watch has a black leather strap, made from genuine Italian quality leather, with a white and silver face.  All DW watches have interchangeable straps.  We love the idea of being able to have different colours for different outfits.

Swedish design, watches

Triwa is a Swedish sunglasses and watch brand.  The products are a mixture of classic design and modern swedish features.  We love the brands ethics – it is “dedicated to transforming the perception of the status symbol into a symbol of style”.  Which really made us think about the huge number of watch brands out there that are simply a status symbol.  Triwa ensures the watches are made from leathers which have a natural ageing process.  They use a local Swedish tannery for their products so they know the leather is organic and of high quality.  We really think this is a brand to watch!  It has beautiful designs and ethical processes.

And here we are modelling our watches – we hope you like them!  The Triwa watch is available here, and the Daniel Wellington watch is available here.

Orange is the new black, or if in doubt wear both!

Happy New Year Readers!

First off, we are sorry for our lack of blogging. We have both been so busy over the festive period, that the blonde edit has had to take back seat. But we are back and ready to take on 2015 and what it has to offer!

There has been scattered snow showers, so the need to wrap up is certainly a must. I wore this colour popping orange (looks more like a red/orange in the photos) Zara coat to do a little bit of retail therapy and to see if I could get bargains (*will share with you soon*) as the sales come to an end. It is a great colour to bring into the spring time as it isn’t a heavy coat and can brighten up any outfit as you can see here in my typical all black!

Cosy & Other Stories Jumpers

Hello Readers!

Well another post about cosy clothes is definitely necessary! This week has been freezing here with some frost and a scattering of snow so we are starting to feel a little bit more Christmassy. We are both in love with these comfy knitted & Other Stories Jumpers – a favourite throw on for a lazy Sunday afternoon.  Fi’s jumper (the amazing neon colour) is last season and not available anymore *sad face*.  But Ollie’s is still available online at & Other Stories and right on trend with the monochrome design.  Both the jumpers are a lovely chunky knit and feel really good quality but still very affordable!

This time of year is so difficult to avoid spending loads of money! Not only have we gone wild buying friends and family Christmas presents but we are constantly being tempted by all the pre-Christmas promotions in the shops just now!!  The shopping addiction is not be helped in anyway.  So we have lots of new purchases to show you soon.  But for now we must try and avoid the shops (until the January sales).

Hope the Christmas shopping is going well and and everyone is starting to get in the festive mood!!!
